Tips to protect your hair while you sleep

Does your evening routine consist of a full cleanse, tone and moisturise but you find yourself putting your hair up in a ponytail before going to sleep? We hate to break it to you, but this may not be the best for your hair. We sometimes forget that during the night, our hair also uses this time to restore itself. Read on for our tips on hair beauty sleep.

1. Dry hair first

Your hair is at its most vulnerable and likely to break when it is wet, so drying your hair well before sleep is going to benefit your locks. This can help prevent breakage when you move around in the night. Heat protection sprays before drying can also help to speed up the drying process and protect against damage.

2. Wake up with a supplement

A supplement such as skin, hair and nails is scientifically formulated for your hair. It contains ingredients including Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, Biotin & Resveratrol. Take one of the 50ml bottles before your breakfast to give your hair the care it needs.

3. Overnight treatment

We all know how great hair masks are to hydrate and give your hair a boost. If you want to make your DIY hair masks, you can here. You may apply a mask for 20 minutes, but sometimes this isn’t long enough. Popping a mask on overnight and leaving it to work its magic while you sleep can go a long way in enhancing your hair condition. It would be great to do this once a month.

4.  Brush your hair before bed

Using a paddle brush will ensure your hair is tangle free. Whereas if you are after more shine, a boar bristle brush is more useful. Whichever brush works best for you, brushing is essential in improving overall condition.

5. Avoid hair tied up

The tension and tightness of having your hair in a ponytail or bun can cause breakage and hair damage due to the pressure on the scalp. Swap the up-do for a braid or plait, this will still keep your hair off your face but will stop the ends breaking.

6. Silk

A silk pillowcase is quite a splurge, but it can help keep your hair in excellent condition. Silk is a very soft material, and the smaller fibres can prevent hair from suffering damage.

7. Scalp massage

The overall health of your hair does start with your scalp. By giving your hair a scalp massage, it can boost your blood circulation. The way to do this is to imagine you are shampooing your hair and focus on working into the roots.

8. Dry Shampoo

Overwashing your hair is going to be one of the most significant factors in stripping your hairs natural oils. In between washes, use dry shampoo, so you don’t have to deal with wet hair every night. If you are unsure how often you should wash your hair, you can find out here.

Now you’ve sorted your beauty sleep, wake up feeling more motivated every morning.
