Are you longing for your hair to grow but feel it’s not happening fast enough? We’ve pulled together some tips to stimulate growth, giving you long and lustrous hair!
1. Use conditioner
Over time the environment, colouring and heat styling can result in thinning hair. Conditioning is vital to limit damage and give it a healthier look and feel.
2. Rinse with cold water after a shower
At the end of washing your hair, rinsing with cold water is a great way to keep hair healthy. Cold water works by laying the outer hair more smoothly. Cold water prevents snagging, heat damage and loss of moisture.
3. Use a weekly mask treatment
As hair gets longer, the part that touches your shoulders can be several years old. This means that it needs more TLC. Moisture based masks or natural oil treatments help to protect hair pre-shampoo.
4. Try a hair boosting supplement
While eating a healthy diet helps, you may not be getting all the nutrients your hair needs to grow longer and limit the damage. A supplement like Skin, Hair & Nails is great for hair as it contains Biotin. Why not try adding a 50ml daily bottle to your routine.
5. Switch your pillowcase
A silk or satin fabric is a lot kinder to your hair, because of it’s softer surface. Cotton pillowcases can cause a lot of friction and cause hair to snag. Also, switching will mean you will wake up with fewer tangles.
6. Give your hair a break
Heat styling can damage hair. By giving your hair a break from heat, your hair will be healthier. Why not try going with an alternative style that doesn’t require heat? A new look, and healthier hair!
7. Book a hair appointment
Even if you are trying to grow your hair, it’s still important to get regular trims. A proper trim helps prevent split ends from working their way up the strands. If you leave it too long between cuts, splits will cause your hair to break away higher up on the strand. This means your hair will actually be shorter than if you visit your hairdresser regularly.
8. Ponytail placement
High, tight ponytails can cause a lot of problems. Wearing your ponytail like this can cause breakage around the hairline and at the nape of the neck. It can also result in hair loss due to snagging. Make sure you are wearing low and loose ponytails to maximise your hair health.
9. Brush more
Brushing stimulates blood floor to your scalp which transfers nutrients to your hair follicles. Doing this will ensure each hair strand is stronger. Make sure you are brushing gently, however, as aggressive brushing can be more damaging. Start from the bottom and gradually work up. This will help to remove any knots and tangles.
10. Limit shampoo
Yes, it removes grease and product built up, but washing your hair every day is unnecessary. Even the best quality shampoo can strip your hair of its natural oils and leave it lacking moisture. When you do want to wash your hair, only lather up your roots. Then when you wash the shampoo off, rinse through to the ends. This will keep all your hair is washed, but limits dryness at the tips.
