How to have healthy skin & hair during the heatwave

The UK is hot right now with this sizzling heatwave, which can take effect on our skin, hair, and nails, with humidity, pollution, hayfever and more exposure to UV rays, it’s even more important to give ourselves a little extra TLC.

Sunscreen is essential

Throw away last year’s bottle (they don’t last forever!) and purchase a new bottle of SPF 30 and apply every 1-2 hours if in full sunlight. “Look for one or more of the following: Mexoryl, avobenzone, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, or tinosorb,” to protect against UVA, or more extended wave ageing rays.


It’s even more critical to moisturise in warmer weather as the sun can dehydrate and damage skin which can cause premature ageing of our skin but maybe swap to a lighter lotion that is more readily absorbed, pack your thick body lotions away for Winter.

Drink eight glasses of water a day

Water is your skincare hero; you need to be drinking a lot more in the summer to prevent dehydration. Switch up your hair routine

What worked in the Winter, may not benefit your hair now. Hot weather can cause a similar effect on hair as styling/ blow drying. They can all cause hair to dry out and become lifeless. If your hair is lacking moisture, You may want to add a supplement to your diet such as LQ skin, hair & nails to provide your hair with a pick me up and add some more moisture rich conditioners and hair masks to your routine.


Pigmentation marks occur due to overproduction of melanin due to spending much time in the sun, the best way to deal with this, is to swap your moisturiser for one that targets brown spots and contain ingredients such as Lactic Acid or Soy.

Ice is your secret summer saviour

Skin can be a little lacklustre at this time of year, dip a flannel in a mixture of ice and milk and relax with it on your face for 10 minutes, the PH of the milk and the cool ice instantly brightens your face.
