Valentine’s day is the perfect time to indulge and enjoy some beauty treats. We have put together our top ways you can get glowing skin and shiny hair using some Valentine’s favourites. Did you know that strawberries and chocolate are good for more than just eating? Read on to find out more.
Strawberry hair mask
Strawberries contain alpha-hydroxy acids. These act as an exfoliant and can help to gently remove any dandruff flakes. To make the mask, you need to blend three strawberries with olive oil and an egg yolk. Massage into scalp, leave and relax for a few minutes before washing off with shampoo.
Honey & Strawberry face mask
Mash three strawberries before adding a tablespoon of honey. Apply to skin, relax for 15 minutes before washing off with warm water. Strawberries have ellagic acid, which is great for reducing skin redness and has natural skin lightening properties.
Chocolate face mask
To make this creamy, warming face mask, just mix one teaspoon of warm coconut oil with two tablespoons of dark cocoa. When the mixture is creamy, apply to your face and let it soak in for a few minutes before washing off. Dark chocolate is rich in anti-oxidants, helping to keep skin healthy. While also being excellent at removing dead skin cells.
Chocolate hair mask
If you are experiencing dry hair this Valentines, this mask is perfect for you. Melt four squares of dark chocolate before adding half a cup of yoghurt with half a teaspoon of honey to the mixture. Apply the paste through the ends of your hair and let it work for 30 minutes before rinsing. Dark chocolate aids your hair by helping keep it super glossy and full of volume.
Champagne hair treatment
We bet you are surprised to know how beneficial champagne can be for your hair, especially for blondes. It is excellent for helping to achieve silky and smooth hair. All you need to do is mix half a glass of champagne with a half a glass of hot water and rinse through hair before using your regular shampoo.
Champagne toner
The great thing about champagne is that it is rich in antioxidants. It also works well on normal to combination skin as a toner. Just dip a cotton pad in champagne and wipe across the face. Always follow with a moisturiser as the alcohol can be drying to the skin. However, it can help contribute to a reduction in skin redness and reduce inflammation of the skin.
Well, who knew all the benefits your valentines gifts could have on your skin and hair?
